English Sterling Silver Tumbler Cup with Gilt Interior, Sheffield 2003

A beautifully simple piece of modern English silver, hand-selected in London for our collection. This sterling silver tumbler cup was made by Carr’s of Sheffield and hallmarked in Sheffield in 2003.

Founded in Sheffield in the 1970s, Carr’s continued the city's centuries-old tradition of silversmithing into the modern era. The hallmarks displayed prominently across the exterior of this cup record its story: the RC sponsor’s mark represents Carr’s of Sheffield, the 925 mark denotes sterling silver, and the rose identifies the Sheffield Assay Office.

The cup itself is wonderfully understated, with a smooth, highly polished sterling silver exterior and softly rounded base. Inside is the unexpected detail we love most: a rich gold-gilt interior, giving the otherwise restrained design a beautiful warmth and contrast.

At approximately 2½" tall, its petite scale makes it incredibly versatile. Use it as a traditional drinking cup, a handsome addition to a bar, or simply display it alongside a collection of English silver. It would also make an especially lovely wedding, christening or milestone gift—an heirloom-quality piece made to be used and passed down.
