English Sterling Silver Strawberry Dish, London 2000

Crafted in sterling silver and hallmarked in London in 2000, this shallow circular dish takes its inspiration from the classic English strawberry dish, a form found in English silver for centuries.

Strawberry dishes traditionally feature a broad, shallow center surrounded by a beautifully shaped or fluted border. Early examples date to the Georgian period and were intended for serving strawberries and other fruits at the table; the versatile form has continued to be reproduced by English silversmiths through subsequent generations. 

This example has a wonderfully simple polished center surrounded by a deeply fluted, scalloped border, allowing the craftsmanship and beauty of the sterling silver itself to take center stage.

We love that it remains every bit as useful today. Fill it with berries or sweets when entertaining, use it for bread or small hors d'oeuvres, or place it on a bar or dressing table as a beautiful catchall.
