English Sterling Silver Rectangular Tray with Handles

A beautiful and wonderfully useful piece of English silver, hand-selected from the famed London Silver Vaults. This antique sterling silver tray was crafted in Sheffield in 1901, during the reign of King Edward VII, and is now 125 years old.

The design is beautifully restrained, with a simple rectangular form, softly rounded corners and elegant handles at either end. The tray is raised slightly on four rounded cushion feet, giving it a lovely presence while maintaining the clean simplicity of the design.

Sheffield was one of England's great centers of silvermaking, and the hallmarks found on the tray record its English sterling standard and Sheffield assay.

More than a century after it was made, we especially love how useful this piece remains. Use it on a bar for cocktail glasses or decanters, on a dressing table for perfume bottles and jewelry, on a desk for stationery and correspondence, or simply displayed with other pieces of antique English silver.
