Antique Sterling Silver Hip Flask, Sheffield 1871

A handsome piece of English silver, hand-selected from the famed London Silver Vaults. This antique sterling silver hip flask was crafted in Sheffield and hallmarked in 1871, during the reign of Queen Victoria.

Its beautifully simple oval form is gently curved to sit comfortably against the body, a practical detail that gives the traditional hip flask its distinctive shape. The highly polished sterling silver exterior is wonderfully understated, allowing the form and craftsmanship of the piece to take center stage.

Sheffield was one of England's great centers of silvermaking, producing everything from fine table silver to sporting and drinking accessories for generations. The hallmarks struck prominently across the front of this flask record its English origin, sterling standard and date of assay.
