What printing methods do you offer?

We offer both engraved and flat printing across our laid paper baby collection. Engraving is our most traditional and refined process, using a custom copper plate to create crisp lettering with a subtle, tactile impression into the paper. Flat printing offers a smooth, classic look while maintaining the same heirloom design quality.

Do engraved calling cards really include the copper plate?

Yes. When you order engraved calling cards, your custom copper plate is included. It is yours to keep and reuse for future reorders, additional stationery, graduation announcements, or correspondence later in life. This is one of the reasons engraved calling cards make such a meaningful heirloom baby gift.

Can the copper plate be reused?

Absolutely. Your plate can be stored and reused for additional calling cards, personal stationery, or milestone moments such as high school correspondence and graduation announcements. Choosing one of Stovall's classic fonts ensures the design will grow beautifully with your child.

What paper do you use?

Our heirloom baby stationery is printed on luxurious 120# Italian laid paper in a soft creamy color. The subtle texture of laid paper enhances both engraved and flat printing, giving each piece a timeless, heirloom feel.

What size options are available?

Sizes vary by product:

Birth Announcements: 6.25 x 4.5" or petite 3.5 x 4.875"

Gift Enclosures: 3 x 1.5" or 2.25 x 1.25"

Stationery: 6.25 x 4.5" flat cards or 4.875 x 7" text-weight sheets that fold in half

Invitations: 6.25 x 4.5"

Each listing includes specific size details.

Are envelopes included?

Yes. All birth announcements, invitations, and stationery include coordinating envelopes. These laid-paper heirloom items also include complimentary return address printing — a significant added value.

Is return address printing really complimentary?

Yes. For our laid-paper heirloom baby collection, we include complimentary return address printing on envelopes — a service that typically retails for approximately $100 per 50 envelopes. We believe beautiful presentation should be effortless.

Do I have to include a photo with birth announcements?

Not at all. We offer both photo and non-photo birth announcement designs. Many families appreciate the timeless simplicity of a classic announcement without a photograph — especially since newborn photos can feel overwhelming in those early weeks. Or drop a wallet size photo in the envelope with a non-photo birth announcement!

How long does production take?

Production typically takes several weeks for our highly custom heirloom baby collection. Each product lists our estimated turn around time but if you have a specific date in mind, we recommend reaching out so we can guide you accordingly.

Can I choose my ink color?

Yes. Most pieces allow you to select from our curated ink color offerings. Some fonts and scripts are better suited to deeper ink tones for optimal legibility — we are always happy to guide you.

Do you offer hand-painted borders?

Yes. All laid-paper items except for the invitations, offer the option to add a hand-painted border for an additional layer of classic, old-world charm.

Are engraved gift enclosures a good baby gift?

Engraved gift enclosures are one of our most beloved heirloom baby gifts. Because they include the custom copper plate, they can be reused throughout childhood and into adulthood — making them both practical and deeply sentimental.

Why choose heirloom stationery in a digital world?

In a world of texts and social media, receiving something tangible in the mail feels rare and meaningful. Heirloom stationery invites someone to hold the paper, feel the impression of engraving, and save it for years to come. It's tucked into baby books and keepsake boxes — not lost in a scroll. Digital is convenient. Printed is lasting. Life's most meaningful moments deserve something designed to endure.

How late is too late to send a birth announcement?

Ideally, birth announcements are mailed within three to four months. That said — life with a newborn is full, and timing doesn't always go as planned. We recommend sending them within six months if possible, but truly, better late than never. Family and friends are always grateful to receive joyful news, no matter when it arrives. A beautiful announcement sent a little late is far better than not sending one at all.

What is the difference between engraved and flat printing?

Engraving uses a custom copper plate to press ink into the paper, creating a crisp, raised impression you can both see and feel. It is considered the gold standard of fine stationery.

Flat printing offers a smooth finish without an impression but still maintains the same classic aesthetic and refined typography.

Both are beautiful — engraving simply offers an added layer of traditional craftsmanship.
