April 19 // Gratitude Through Reflection

It’s Sunday, and I am quite happy to sit down for a moment of reflection!

The store is bustling this time of year - I love when all of the high school seniors are sent in by their mothers to order stationery. I’ve had a few cute interns over the years who have fallen in love with paper, and it’s so fun for me to watch their eyes open to this old-world technique.

The engraved stationery sale that we run now through May 15th is always such a popular one. As the price of labor has risen over the last several decades, so has the price of engraved stationery. Printed by hand on machines that are almost a century old, the art of engraving truly has my heart. I love the feel of the raised ink on the paper - the thinner the paper, the better, in my opinion!

My favorite stationery sale items:

  1. Camden - traditional with a twist! I am obsessed with the citrine engraving ink on ecru paper for this item. I especially love my formal name listed here - longer across the top of this skinny, rectangular shape. I think the unique color + classic font & paper make a really fun contrast!
  2. Austen - funky calligraphy! I love this calligraphy style and the petite size of the card. Call me crazy, but I would do citrine on white paper for these. How cute with a blue pen, a green pen… or even a pink pen!

Notes I am writing today:

  1. The girls are writing letters to their camp pen pals, which is so exciting!
  2. Whitney, a friend in the stationery world - we had an impromptu chat turned pep talk last week that really filled my cup. I have so many amazing friends and support systems in this little community, and I am so thankful for them.
  3. Teachers. With the end of the year coming to a close, I have started letters to my kids’ teachers. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of words of gratitude than these amazing teachers who have cared for my children all year!

xx,

Jody
